CertainTeed Shingles Settlement

CertainTeed Shingles Settlement

Certainteed is an organization which has built an empire worthy of its customer’s trust and goodwill. However, many settlement claims have been made against the company, which has prompted it to release a settlement clause for its shingles as it intends to avoid any legal suites or further complications of a similar nature. In the official Certainteed shingles settlement website, the notice for settlement has been released for qualifying property owners on which organic asphalt shingles produced by Certainteed have been or are installed. This settlement clause goes a long way in smoothly settling any disputes which may arise out of non performance of contract or product by Certainteed and can help avoid unnecessary legal complications.

The very first step to claim any settlement is to identify whether the shingles is an original Certainteed product or not. The shingles that are subject to settlement have been produced from July 1, 1987 right through 2005, under the brand names, Independence Shangle, Hallmark Shangle, Sealdon 20 and 25, Horizon Shangle, Solid Slab, Saf-T-Lok and its custom version, Master Slab, Custom Lok 25 etc. However, all shingles that have been manufactured after 2005 have been made out of fiber glass. If the shingles are made of fiberglass, they’re not subject to any claim settlement and are not considered a part of the lawsuit. The ways you can check whether the shingles are organic and made by Certainteed are:

• You must check for bills, receipts, and documents which may indicate that the shingles are organic or not, and also whether they are original Certainteed shingles or not.
• Asking an experienced and skilled roofer can be of great help. Such a roofer may easily be able to identify whether the shingles are organic or not.
• The contractor or company you may have hired to repair or install your shingles would have a clear idea whether the shingles are Certainteed Organic shingles or not.
• Any sort of packaging material in which the shingles many have been delivered to the home could be a good indicator of the nature of the product.

The second step is to check for the claim deadline of the shingles. If the shingles installed in your property have been damaged before the end of the warranty period, you can send a Claim form to the company stating the warranty date and other required information. Each shingle offered by Certainteed has a different warranty period. Depending on this, the owner must check the nature of the ownership and the claim options available. There are various classifications for owners depending on the time and nature of purchase. These classifications further make you eligible or not eligible to apply for settlement. In addition to the clause that ‘owners of the shingles which have been damaged before the warranty period’, you have to be a class member, the definition of the damage to your shingles should be mentioned in the Settlement Agreement and the cause of damage needs to be in the control of Certainteed.
